Sonics cap off Junior Olympics with an exclamation point

The Sonics finished strong on Saturday with three more medals pushing their cumulative total to NINE! Our 10-year old superstar quartet of Nylah Raspberry, Tyra Hudson, Trinity Pretlow, and Tia Mitchell claimed medals in the both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, finishing 5th and 2nd, respectively. And rounding things out were the 17-18 women’s team of Jaelin Hatton, Mohogany Antoine, Liniuska Mendoza, and Lauren Thames who took 5th place in the 4×400 relay.

Here’s a summary of all the medal winners:

Davon Beckles, 8th place in the 11-year old boys 3000 meter run
Octavia Gee, 1st place in 8-under girls shot put (national record!) and 2nd place in turbo javelin
Tia Mitchell, 6th place in 10-year old girls 400 meter dash
Amira Chatman, 4th place in 11-year old girls shot put
Michelle Mayer, 7th place in 12-year old girls 800 meter run
9-10 year old girls, 5th place in 4×100 relay and 2nd place in 4×400 relay
17-18 year old women, 5th place in 4×400 relay
